9th June 2022 Ordinary Time

In the church calendar we've just hit what's known as "Ordinary Time': the (church!) festivals are mainly over (apart from Trinity Sunday this week when Cliff will explain to us, the mysteries of our God who is 3 in 1) and we settle in until Advent. If you have a personality like mine that seems a bit flat. But actually the Bible commends something a little more ordinary:' make it your ambition to lead a quiet life,' wrote Paul to the Thessalonian Church, and in Isaiah 30 v15 God says, 'In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength. 'We've got a brilliant festival next week - do let family and friends know and sign up to lend a hand if you're able. And also, maybe it's time to start to look to slightly more ordinary times after the excitement of Jubilee, Easter and Pentecost. After all, it's in the ordinary that we often have time and space to discover the extraordinary, previously unnoticed, in our midst...like this orchid I stumbled upon in a plain grassy meadow recently.
