2022-10-27 A Season to Remember

With the clocks going back this weekend we're really aware of the change in seasons (even if it's very warm still!) The church season is changing too, and we have a couple of weeks where the theme is remembering, starting with All Saints Day this weekend. Whilst we tend to think of Saints as especially holy people - St Peter, St Francis and the like - the Bible actually refers to all of us who are following Jesus, as saints - that's you and me!

On Sunday evening we'll take the opportunity to remember those we know and love who've died, in a short service. Do come and join us as we remember our loved ones before God. And then in a couple of weeks it's Remembrance Sunday, where we remember those who've died in service of the country. It's so helpful to have a time of remembering - we're encouraged to do a lot of in the Bible! In 1 Chron 16:12 King David exhorts us to 'Remember the wonderful works He has done' - something the psalms do too. That's why we have a time of thanksgiving in our service once a month - to remember God's goodness to us in the past and encourage us to trust Him with the future. We need that, in these changeable times!
