Over the past couple of months we’ve been following a series of talks on who we are as church, looking at different ways that the Bible describes us. Mary finished the series last Sunday, looking at how we need to constantly see how to repurpose who we are, in order to proclaim the good news of Jesus. Our shape needs to be flexible and fluid in order that we might be able to adapt to the needs of our community now. Last week, Mary summarised the threads running through the images we’ve looked at as follows (her talk is also attached to tis email in full): The thread of embracing our differences, about how we work together to encourage and enable all the gifts and skills amongst us, (which is also a personal challenge to each of us). The huge thread of reaching out to others, being invitational, not least in inviting others to celebrate what God has done for us. The thread of being intentional in building on this solid
foundation of Jesus in this place and through who we are. The thread of being inclusive and allowing ourselves to be changed as we peach the gospel of love in ways that others can understand. These threads all contribute to our makeup - and we will all bring different combinations of these threads to the whole - I wonder how your thread is woven into the whole?
