I wonder if you're noticing it too - there's been an increased sense of God's presence in our services recently. Of course He's always here... but sometimes, His presence just seems 'more' - maybe we've unusually shed a tear in worship (a few have mentioned this), known greater peace, noticed the sermons talking to us more than usual, even sensed a weight like a blanket of God's glory resting on us (that's what I noticed as we shared communion last week - resulting in an unusual stillness). We never know why God chooses to bless us in this way - there's no formula. But prayer makes it more likely, and so does repentance (i.e. turning back to God), a greater vulnerability and authenticity amongst us... simply a desire and hunger for God, maybe all the more in the difficulties and uncertainties of these times. Is it just here? No - other churches have noticed it too - there was even a sense of revival in the small American town of Asbury. So what should we do? There's nothing more precious than a greater glimpse of God. So let's ask Him for more, more for ourselves, our church, our community and world; let's use Lent to reflect on anything that's getting in the way of our relationship with God and keep on getting to know Him better in prayer and Bible reading - and let's encourage each other in these things.
