2022-07-21 Holidays

School breaks up today and many of us are looking forward to a trip away over the coming weeks, or have already headed off on holiday - maybe a break postponed many times through Covid! Or maybe you're staying local and looking forward to a quieter spell - fewer meetings and a chance to get that holiday novel out in the garden. After this week's high temperatures, our usually cooler British summer is a welcome prospect. Holidays are for recreation - and that's a great description of why we need them. Re-creation does what it says on the tin - re-creates us. A quieter August gives us a chance to reflect and review the past months and to look ahead without that to-do list obscuring the view. Above all it gives us a chance to restore our perspective in the presence of the Creator Himself, to rest in his love and allow Him to restore our energy and vision. It gives our minds space to be creative as we were designed to be - one way in which we're made in the image of the Creator.

There's no better use of the holiday season than rest and restoration! That looks different for all of us and a few folk are off on different adventures: Peter and Katie Rhodes are helping to lead a Christian Activity camp (see p5) - as are the Groves family, a bit later in the summer. A few of us are off to Christian festival New Wine next week. And Allen Edwards is back from Rwanda - more on Sunday in the 10am service, and in next week's newsletter!

What are you up to? Share your relaxation/ re-creation with us: email me a picture that sums up your holiday and I'll share it in the newsletter with the whole church family !
