The feast day of St Luke was actually yesterday and whilst it’s not especially the tradition of many of us to celebrate saints days, it’s a good opportunity to be inspired by the life of this evangelist and author of both the gospel, & Acts! I love how as a physician, he starts his gospel, explaining to his friend that ‘ I myself (Luke) have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught (Luke 1:1-4).’ Just what I need to hear - that he’s checked out the facts! As we think a little about Dr Luke, it’s a good time to celebrate some of our initiatives around healing and wholeness here at St Francis, having a had our pilot session of ‘footprints’ - our support group for children with special needs and their parents and carers this week. We’ll take the learning into the next session on 21st Nov, before planning to go to every week from next year. And we’ll be hearing from Katie our GP Chaplain in church on Sunday as she updates us about this link with the local surgery - do continue praying for her & this work!
