There are a lot of saints days around at the moment! It's not especially our church tradition to dwell on famous saints, since, as followers of Jesus, we're all saints. That's how Paul the apostle describes us! But we have so much to learn from the famous saints, from their example and their devotion to Jesus. The church remembers Philip and James on 1st May, Mark the evangelist on 25th April, and of course St George on 23rd April. But this year the church celebrated St George's Day on Monday 24th April. Why? Because after Easter, celebrating the resurrection takes priority over saints days! I love that the resurrection has priority and I couldn't help thinking there's a life lesson there - to make the hope and joy of the resurrection a priority in my mind. I'm sure that George and the other saints would agree. You can find the special prayers for the saints days in the 'points for prayer' section.
